No fancy feature wall? No problem.💛 ⠀ ⠀ Som No fancy feature wall? No problem.💛 ⠀

Sometimes a fresh, bright, and spacious simple room can be just as effective! Not to mention timeless and budget-friendly. 💸 ⠀
⠀
💭How do you feel about simpler designs like this? ⠀
⠀
I feel like a lot of the time we tend to showcase the most impressive of aesthetics on Instagram (check out yesterday's post 😍) , but we've found simpler rooms definitely get a 5-star approval from tenants as well! 🙌🏼🙌🏼 ⠀
⠀
(I would've loved this room as a student! - actually I’d still love it now!😍) ⠀

SITE VISITS // We’re trying to minimise sites SITE VISITS //

We’re trying to minimise sites visits at the moment for obvious reasons (at least at times when guys would be on site), so we love getting update pics from the contractors.

This current project includes a large attic conversion and dormer extension, the creation of 2 new double bedrooms and a bathroom on the top floor, and internal remodelling to make a single room into a double.

All going well, the house is currently being pulled apart ready for new steels and joists to go in.

More updates to come and see more details in our stories.

LOVE FOR THE PUB // So much love for the pub the o LOVE FOR THE PUB // So much love for the pub the other day, so here’s the inside!!

Won’t it be nice when we can all return to the pub for a drink with our friends?!

There will be a need no doubt for more residential in city centres as retail and office space is hit post-corona. BUT, pubs are so important to keep where possible. They’re part of the cultural fabric of our communities.

Looking forward to bringing this gem back to life when we can.

Had some professional photos taken of it yesterday, capturing the ‘before’, before the ‘afters’ (even though they’re a long way off). Will be sharing the ups and down on here! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♂️

TO FURLOUGH OR NOT TO FURLOUGH// Have you seen t TO FURLOUGH OR NOT TO FURLOUGH//

Have you seen the thought provoking posts from @mother_pukka calling on government to make furlough for homeschooling parents a right so employers have to provide it?

It's a such a tough topic with no easy answers, but we see both sides of the issue.

Hannah who works for us has young children and has to homeschool, so we took the decision straight away to furlough her as we know only too well how difficult it is trying to juggle work and homeschool. That was essential for her long term wellbeing.

I’ve taken the homeschooling role for us, with our 3 kids being 3, 7 and 9 yrs old its full on, but FAT Properties still needs me too. (I’d love to hear how many other women have done the same? How many men are teaching the kids whilst their wives / partners work full time?).

Furlough is great for employees, but should it be mandatory if people have children? From the employees point, and the children’s point, I totally see the argument.

But what about the people left in the business? During the day I am juggling homeschooling etc. with work, my very early mornings and evenings are spent catching up on work.

Tom is now the only one focusing on FAT Properties full time but he’s having to also pick up some of mine and all of Hannah’s work too, the reality is we’ve lost a lot of capacity, even with me working in the early mornings and late evenings and whenever I can.

Should businesses be made to put everything on hold and furlough their staff? Will they survive if they’re made to do so? If not, it would be self defeating.

The furlough scheme is great from a cash perspective, the majority off the salary costs get paid by government of course, but what about lost productivity, missed opportunities, slower growth, and increased pressure on those still at work?

What’s the government to do? Is making it mandatory right?

If it’s available as an option (including flexible furlough) should staff and employers be left to reach a reasonable agreement?

Maybe that's wishful thinking? I’d love to hear your experience?
